This article aims to unravel the dynamics of hate speech and crime, exploring their causes, impacts, and mitigation strategies. The analysis includes an examination of the essential characteristics of hate speech and crimes, the root causes—such as gender, caste, and religion-based discrimination—and their profound effects on individuals and society. Furthermore, the paper outlines the existing legal provisions aimed at curbing hate speech and hate crimes, with a focus on the Indian context, including the SC/ST Act. Finally, the article proposes comprehensive mitigation approaches to address and prevent hate speech and hate crimes effectively.
